Now based in Bondi, Sydney, he has evolved his practice to meet the needs of high-achieving individuals who want a Complete Health & Wellness Coach, not just a PT.
As a highly-experienced, Qualified Personal Trainer and Certified Breathing Coach, he specialises in building strength, fitness and mobility as well as helping people regulate their nervous system through breathing and expert stress management.

THE FOUNDER
Mat’s Story
After experiencing a severe burnout in his twenties, Mat was surprised to find that the healthcare professionals didn’t have the answers for him. Instead, the majority offered him medication to manage the symptoms and few were interested in finding the root cause.
But Mat knew that relying on pharmaceuticals couldn’t be the answer long term and felt there must be a better way, a more natural way to heal.
Thankfully, he eventually discovered that the solutions were already available to him - in nature. No fads, gimmicks or fancy tech required. They were all methods that have stood the test of time. But ones that we, in the developed world, have lost sight of due to our overly-comfortable (yet increasingly stressful) lives.
So, once Mat learnt how to work WITH stress to strengthen his body and mind, he was not only able to make a full recovery but became healthier and happier than ever before.
After coming out the other side, he started teaching these evidence-based methods to others to improve their physical and mental health. Low and behold, Wise & Prime was born.

The Current State of Affairs
Body
Our bodies simply weren’t designed to spend as much time as they do in sedentary positions - they were designed to move. And move with purpose.
It’s becoming easier and easier to avoid expending energy thanks to better and faster technology.
As a result, our bodies are not being stimulated in the right way and we are losing touch with our natural way of moving.
And without regularly stimulating our muscles and joints, they simply get weaker and stiffer over time – especially after the age of 30.
Take chairs as an example. Because so many of us have become accustomed to sitting in chairs from school onwards, we struggle to touch our toes, have hunched shoulders and struggle with back/neck pain on and off throughout our lives.
Thankfully, it’s quite possible for us all to reverse the effects of modern-day living and enable our bodies to thrive again through regular functional fitness training.
And our job at Wise & Prime is to make that as simple and achievable as possible for you through first-class personal training – regardless of your starting point.
Mind
As humans evolved on the planet, we slowly developed the ability to think conceptually. That’s to say, we began visualising, discussing and planning events in our own minds.
This evolutionary leap set us apart from the rest of the animal kingdom and enabled us to create the infinite complexity and multiplicity that we see around us every day.
Over time, however, it would appear that humans have become increasingly identified with their thinking minds. That is to say, they have become the voice in their head rather than the conscious observer of their thoughts and emotions.
As a result, the vast majority of people alive today are totally at the mercy of their endless stream of beliefs around how things need to be for them to be ok.
It seems this lack of internal awareness is at the root of the most common psychological disorders arising on the planet right now - predominantly the rise of chronic stress, anxiety and depression.
The good news is that everyone has the ability to step out of their ‘thinking mind’ and live more peacefully. It just takes a little practice.

And it involves the mind just as much as the body.
The name Wise & Prime is derived from the two ideal states of being – a Wise mind and a Prime body.
It would appear that both of these states are required for a truly sustainable, healthy and happy life – as each one informs the other in a profound way.
Traditional healthcare professionals focus on getting you to a state of “ok-ness” – often by only treating the symptoms – not the cause.
My goal is to get you to (and keep you in) a state of wellness - by preventing and treating the root cause and correcting that base-level behaviour pattern for life.

I focus on moving the way your body is designed to - rooted in evolutionary biology and refined by modern-day exercise physiology.
As a by-product of training this way, you’ll FEEL the benefits – both physically and mentally – and your body will reflect the choices you’ve made and LOOK the best it can.
This is ultimately WHY we are attracted to strong, lean physiques in the first place - one’s outward appearance should reflect their physical capabilities and internal state of mind.
It’s this holistic approach that has enabled my clients to glide past previous barriers and stay fit, strong and healthy long-term.
